IBS, Chronic Sinusitis, Overweight
Thank you so much for all of your assistance with the LEAP program. The last 3 months have been life changing.
I have suffered from inflammation related issues (IBS, Chronic Sinusitis, joint pain, headaches, fatigue and difficulty losing weight) for years. Years of medical testing and taking countless medications had resulted in fleeting periods of relief and very little overall change. I was told by many doctors that I was perfectly healthy. I was left feeling depressed and helpless. After researching the impact of food sensitivities on thyroid functioning and hormones, I came across MRT testing and the LEAP protocol. Fortunately, I quickly found Sandra's information online. Desperate for the answers that I have been searching for over the past 20 years, I jumped at the chance to get started. After receiving my MRT test results I sat down with Sandra to review my beginning stages of the LEAP diet protocol. I was surprised to find that I had reacted mostly to food colorings and additives. I also had reacted to many foods that I had viewed as healthy (carrots, celery, beets, pineapple). Sandra helped me to go through the list of foods that I could eat during each stage of the plan. I was nervous and skeptical. Could I stick to this restricted list of "safe" foods? Would this really be any different than every other diet or supplements that I had tried?
The first couple of days were very tough. I was faced with temptations daily and planning for each meal was time consuming. Within a week, I started to notice improvements in my headaches and intestinal pain. In addition to the improvements in my health, I was losing weight. I could not believe that I was losing weight while still eating potatoes, milk and cheese. With each stage of the program I was able to add in more foods. My cravings for foods that I was not supposed to be eating dissipated. I suddenly had more energy than I have had in years. I stopped taking the daily antihistamine that I had been taking for years and I was shocked to see that my sinus issues did not return. Over the past 3 months I have seen my inflammation related symptoms almost completely disappear. Now, when I experience a headache, bloating or congestion, I can easily tie it to a new food in my diet or pinpoint the environmental factor (dust, stress) if I know that I have been sticking to my food plan. I have lost almost 15 pounds in 3 months. I consider the weight loss to be a bonus, with the improvements in my overall health and wellbeing being the ultimate prize. After only 3 months, I look at food in a completely new way. I am much more careful to avoid processed foods, I am more diligent about reading food labels, I realize that certain foods were putting too much strain on my immune system, and I now eat foods that help my body function at it best.
Thank you again for your guidance and for giving me to tools to enjoy my life again!

Migraines

I have been a migraine sufferer for almost 14 years now and they became progressively worse after the birth of my son in 2011. I knew that I did not want to take a daily prescription, but wanted to find a more natural solution to my problem. After meeting with Sandra and discovering my food sensitivities at the time, my migraines quickly faded and only came back if I got off track. It has been almost a year later since I started the diet and I am now able to eat almost all of the foods I was once sensitive to with no issues! Thanks so much Sandra for helping this girl get healthy and get her life back! I can now enjoy spending more time with my family!

Losing Weight and Feeling Great
I started working with Sandra because I had tried to lose weight many times before, but could never really keep the weight off. Diet, exercise, the combination of diet and exercise -- it really never worked for me. I realized that my biggest problem was food and my attitudes toward food. I didn't want to go on a "diet" because that type of eating wasn't something I felt I could sustain. I really wanted to attack this long term. Books and websites are okay, but I'd been down that road before. I felt that the help of a nutrition professional was my best chance at success.
My first meeting with Sandra, I told her that I wanted a plan for eating that can last the rest of my life. I know what foods are good and bad for me, but I don't know how to control how much I eat. Also, I'm not a salad eating person at all. If this is going to work, it had to happen without having to eat a salad as a meal. Among the things that Sandra and I discussed were portion control, what it feels like to be "full", planning out snacks, alternative choices to my "trigger foods," nutrients, the importance of fiber and protein and vitamins. We also addressed several of my own personal issues with food including certain behaviors and habits developed while I was growing up.
In my 8-weeks with Sandra, I was able to lose a little over 2 pounds per week with an overwhelming majority of that weight being fat loss. I am maintaining good eating habits. Because of the work I've been doing in the gym in conjunction with how I eat now, my clothing sizes have dropped despite only losing around a pound a week now. Translation: I'm putting on muscle. I'm down from size 40 jeans to 36 (and they're getting loose now too). My XXL and XL t-shirts no longer fit right because they are too big. I'm more vibrant when working with people and my mind is able to take on more now. I wouldn't trade those 8 weeks for anything. The habits I was able to develop with Sandra are now a seamless part of my life that happen without giving them a second thought.

Dropping Cholesterol
I am getting off my statin today after testing at 166 yesterday. I owe that to you. And I haven’t had a bad stomachache in over a month.
I also lost 20 lbs.!

A Simple Approach to Weight Loss

I finally hit a point where I constantly felt uncomfortable and knew it was time to lose weight. Since my kids were getting older, I couldn’t use that excuse anymore. Wanting to not just start some type of fad diet, I started searching the Internet for the best, most credentialed dietitian. One quick Google search and Sandra popped to the top of the list as the most impressive dietitian that promoted healthy lifestyle changes.
“Coach” Sandra is unique because she had me make my own eating decisions and simply gave me ideas of good things to eat and drink (water, nuts and seafood!). Her approach is simple and low pressuring. I have lost over 40 pounds and feel better than I have in 20 years!

Eating the Right Foods That Are Healthy for YOU
I was looking for an alternative to traditional medications, when I found Nutrition Works and the LEAP program. I didn’t really have any specific ailments, but was just interested in discovering the foods my body is sensitive to. Although I didn’t have any specific ailments I feel better now after going through the LEAP program, partially due to losing 20lbs. The LEAP program is more than eating healthy, it’s learning to eat the healthy foods that are actually healthy for YOU. I was eating green smoothies with spinach, but it turns out spinach is something that I’m highly sensitive to. The hardest part was just breaking that routine and getting started. Now my diet is so much more varied than it was before.

Down 20 Pounds With a Better Understanding of How Food Works

Sandra: I want to thank you for all that you have taught me about nutrition. When my Dr. diagnosed me with type 2 diabetes in late February, I was devastated. I really had no idea which way to turn. After meeting with you for the first time, I felt the weight lift off of my shoulders. It wasn't anything like I thought. I kind of thought you would just start telling me what I could never eat again. To my surprise, you initiated small changes to my diet and tweaked those changes over a matter of weeks. I have a better understanding of how to understand food labels and make better choices. I also have a better understanding of how food works to fuel my body. I believe before anyone begins a program to lose weight, they should start with understanding their nutrition. Exercise alone is simply not enough to make lasting changes for your health. I am down 20 lbs and have a long way to go. But when you compare my life to what it was in February, I am a different person. Again, thank you for your help and I look forward to working together as I reach my goals.

The Best Part is Feeling Better

I've lost 16 pounds since making an appointment with Sandra (8 weeks ago), and I feel so much better. The best part has been feeling better, learning how to eat the right foods, and then seeing the benefits of it.

I Added Foods to My Diet

...Sandra, your program changed my life by making it (1) longer and (2) better. Not only did your program teach me what to avoid but also- and even more importantly- what new foods to add to my diet. You taught me how to survive the toughest holiday party environments and to find good nutrition among many temptations. As your tutorials progressed, my cholesterol decreased along with my blood pressure.

Unexpected Benefits: Weight Loss and Back Pain Relief

Deciding to take the “leap” and call Sandra was one of the best calls I’ve ever made. Discovering my food sensitivities through the MRT blood testing and following the Lifestyle Eating and Performance (LEAP) program helped me regain my energy and feel so much better. The unexpected benefits of the program were weight loss and relief from constant back pain.
